Relation between monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and prognosis in recipients after liver transplantation

Okutan, Serafettin; Saritas, Hasan; Saritas, Serdar; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Guneş, Hüseyin

Background: The end-stage liver diseases require liver transplantation as the life-saving solution. It is known that monocytes/macrophages and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) have important contributions to the development of hepatic inflammation and oxidative stress before liver transplantation. However, the effect of monocyte/HDL-C ratio (MHR) on clinical progression and outcome in the post-transplant period are not fully understood. Our hypothesis is that the MHR value may be associated with poor vs. good outcomes after liver transplantation. Methods: In our retrospective study, we included 464 liver transplant recipients. Patients' data were extracted from electronic and other paper records in our teaching/research hospital. The MHR values and other blood parameters (creatinine, total protein, albumin, etc.) were expressed as a mean and standard deviation, which were analyzed by the Pearson correlation test. The relationship between graft dysfunction and MHR was determined by ROC curve analysis. Results: The mean age of liver transplant recipients was 45.8 ± 13.7 years. Nineteen percent of patients had liver failure due to Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (AFLD) and 34.5 % had liver failure due to hepatitis B virus. At the end of 3 months after liver transplantation, 84.5 % of liver transplant recipients were alive, 5.8 % experienced graft rejection and 5.17 % had an infection. There was a statistically significant improvement in total protein, albumin, liver function tests, and serum creatinine values of the survivors (all p < 0.05). The MHR levels were significantly higher in patients who died after transplantation in comparison to those who survived before and after liver transplantation and these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.01). Conclusion: The increased MHR values of recipients after liver transplantation correlated with their risk of survival. Furthermore, the MHR value increased with increased MELD score and the number of days of hospitalization and was not affected by gender and age. MHR was higher in patients with chronic diseases. Patients with high MHR before and after transplantation should be monitored more closely in the perioperative period.

A Meta-Analysis of Self-Management Interventions in Teaching Daily Living Skills to Autistic Individuals

Aydin, Orhan; Sulu, Mehmet D.; Ari-Arat, Ceren

The current study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of self-management interventions for teaching daily living skills to autistic individuals. This study accessed the corresponding studies by doing a search in six databases. 14 articles and one dissertation met the inclusion criteria. The included studies were first analyzed descriptively and coded according to quality indicators using What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) standards. Second, the effect sizes of the included studies were calculated using two different effect size measures (i.e., Tau-U and performance-criteria-based effect size values [PCES]). Third, these analyses were also conducted for generalization and maintenance data. Of 15 studies included in this review, nine met the WWC standards with and without reservations. Tau-U analyses were conducted for 14 studies, whereas PCES values were calculated for only eight studies with mastery criteria. The findings indicated that the self-management interventions had a.93 CI95 (.80, 1) overall effect size for Tau-U with a very large effect. On the other hand, the overall effect size for the PCES values indicated a moderate effect with.99. The weighted effect sizes in generalization and maintenance phases were very large for Tau-U; however, moderate to high effects for PCES. Although self-management interventions showed diversity, one of the domains of daily living skills (i.e., community living skills) has not been studied in the field. Notably, among the studies in our review, the last ones are from 2019. Detailed findings from descriptive analyses and two different effect size calculations are discussed, and recommendations for future studies are given.

Esgin, Özge; Aslan Çin, Nazlı Nur; Kaplan, Özlem Nur; Baratzada, Leeda; Özçelik, Ayşe Özfer

Background: The MIND diet, which promotes brain health, has a potential role in preventing cognitive decline. To further establish its applicability, it is essential to validate the MIND Diet Adherence Scale in different populations with diverse dietary habits, including Turkish young adults. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the construct validity, internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the Turkish version of the MIND diet assessment tool in the Turkish population. Methods: A total of 310 individuals aged between 19 and 39 (mean age 25.0 ± 5.1) voluntarily participated in this study. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews, incorporating socio-demographic characteristics, anthropometric measurements, the MIND Diet Adherence Scale, and the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale. Both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the MIND Dietary Adherence Scale were performed. In the CFA, the goodness of fit of the hypothesized model to the observed data was evaluated using a range of fit indices. Results: The study determined an adequate sample size (KMO = 0.67), with sufficient item correlations for factor analysis (χ2 = 449.74; p < 0.001). Confirmatory factor analysis and goodness-of-fit indicators supported the fit of the two-factor model to the Turkish data. The Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient for the MIND Diet Adherence Scale was 0.61. All items in the scale exhibited a positive correlation with the total score, exceeding 0.40. Furthermore, a substantial positive correlation was observed between the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale and the MIND Diet Adherence Scale. Conclusions: The Turkish adaptation of the MIND Diet Adherence Scale can be utilized in its entirety, without the need to remove any items. This study affirms that the MIND Diet Adherence Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for assessing dietary habits in Turkish society.

Online Purchasing Model for PwD (People with Disabilities) Consumers: Pre and Post Disability Behaviors

    Yilmazel, Sefa Emre

People with Disabilities (PwD) is discussed in the literature as the largest minority in the world. This group generally prefers online shopping instead of store shopping due to the physical difficulties they experience. However, no online shopping model has been developed for this group. Therefore, the aim of this study is to reveal an online purchasing model for PwDs in line with the theory of planned behavior. In this regard, the effects of the variables perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, peer communication, security concern, privacy concern and physical disabilities on consumers’ purchasing intention and subsequent purchasing behavior through subjective norms, attitude and behavioral control were investigated with pre- and post-disability data. In the study, data was collected from participants before (322) and after (546) disability. As a result of this study, it was revealed that online behavior of consumers before and after the disability differed. Especially peer communication made a significant difference in purchasing behavior after the disability. Consumers became more sensitive about security and privacy in their online shopping after the obstacle. In addition, consumers’ perceived usefulness had a significant effect on their attitudes after the disability. Therefore, as a result of the study, an online shopping model for PwD consumers was created.

Comparative quality assessment of plant-based kefir as a vegan alternative to traditional kefir

Meral-Aktaș, Hacer; Bazu-Çırpıcı, Burcu; Aktaș, Haktan; Kadi̇roğlu, Hafsa; Çeti̇n, Bülent

Plant-based milk is emerging as a promising alternative for vegan and vegetarian diets and for people who are allergic to animal products. In this study, kefir was produced using hazelnut, walnut, and cashew milk, and fermented with a combination of Bifidobacterium longum (human origin) and selected autochthonous microbial strains with probiotic potential found in traditional kefir. Significant variation was identified in the physicochemical, microbiological and sensory analyses of kefir produced with plant-based milk and cow milk kefir as a control. In particular, phenolic compound and total phenolic contents were found to be greater in plant-based kefir than in cow milk kefir. Notably, walnut kefir exhibited the highest total phenolic content at 843 mg GAE/L, compared to 83 mg GAE/L in cow milk kefir, highlighting a significant increase in antioxidant potential. On the other hand, the sensory properties of cow milk kefir were rated higher than those of kefir made with plant-based milk. These findings suggest that plant-based kefir can serve as a vegan beverage alternative, although further development is needed to improve flavour acceptability.

Dietary Carvacrol Attenuates Cyclophosphamide-Induced Neurotoxicity: Implications for Food-Derived Neuroprotection and Molecular Mechanisms

    Kızıl, Hamit Emre

Carvacrol (CRV) is a phenolic monoterpene abundant in culinary herbs such as oregano and thyme and is well known for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. This study investigated the ability of CRV to counteract neurotoxicity induced by cyclophosphamide (CP), a widely used antineoplastic agent. Male Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups and received CP and/or CRV treatments. Neurotoxicity and neuroprotection were evaluated through biochemical assays, real-time PCR, histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses, and behavioral testing (Morris Water Maze). CP administration led to significant increases in oxidative stress markers, disruption of antioxidant enzyme activities, upregulation of inflammatory mediators (NF-κB, TNF-α, iNOS), dysregulation of apoptotic regulators (increased Bax and Casp-3, decreased Bcl-2), alterations in autophagy markers (Beclin-1, LC3A, LC3B), and suppression of Notch1/Hes1 signaling. Histopathological analyses revealed neuronal degeneration, vascular hyperemia, and increased GFAP and 8-OHdG expression in brain tissue. CRV treatment, particularly at higher doses, effectively mitigated these biochemical, molecular, and histological alterations. Notably, CRV administration preserved spatial learning and memory function in CP-treated rats, as demonstrated by the Morris Water Maze test, indicating functional neuroprotection. These findings highlight the multifaceted neuroprotective mechanisms of CRV and suggest its potential as a food-derived bioactive compound for development into functional foods or dietary supplements to improve the quality of life for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Dere, Sevda; İspirli, Hümeyra; Korkmaz, Kader; Tuncil, Yunus Emre; Sagdic, Osman; Narbad, Arjan; Ayyash, Mutamed; Dertli, Enes

Glucansucrases (GS) are functional enzymes for the production of distinct glucan and gluco-oligosaccharide structures with potential bioactive characteristics. In this study, an active glucansucrase (GS40) was identified within the genome of Leuconostoc mesenteroides YTU 40 that was further cloned, heterologously expressed and biochemically characterised. GS40 was capable of production of a branched dextran with ~ 20% (1→3)-α-D-Glc residues detected by1H and13C NMR analysis. Acceptor reactions of GS40 with maltose and cellobiose were performed and distinct maltose/cellobiose derivative acetylated gluco-oligosaccharides were produced detected by TLC, NMR and LC-MS analysis. The bioactive characteristics of branched dextran and gluco-oligosaccharides were tested by determination of their immune-modulatory roles in terms of triggering IL-12, IL-10, IL-4 and TNF-α cytokine levels. These findings can be important to unveil the role of glucansucrases for the production of gluco-oligosaccharides that can be used as functional ingredients for food and other industries.

    Bayraktar, Bülent; Battal, Fetullah

Background: Emotional intelligence is a person’s ability, capacity and ability to understand, use, understand, manage, anticipate, manage and direct the emotions of oneself or others. Students with high levels of emotional intelligence express themselves better, are more resistant to stress in their lives, and are individuals who can direct their emotions. Leaders with strong emotional intelligence will create synergy for all employees. Therefore, emotional intelligence and stress management skills are important issues in the field of leadership and organizational behavior. At the same time, emotional intelligence and stress management skills interact with hormones. This study aims to examine the emotional intelligence levels and hormone (apelin, cortisol) and cerebral (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)) response of 4th-year students of the faculty of health sciences at the university, who are potential managers of the future in terms of some variables. Methods: The research was conducted using the cross-sectional data method with 167 university students aged 18–24 who were reported to be clinically healthy in Türkiye. Apelin, cortisol hormone and BDNF levels in the participants’ saliva samples were analyzed using the ELISA technique. The relationship between emotional intelligence level and total scores from the stress coping scale and salivary apelin, cortisol and BDNF levels were evaluated. Results: In the study, it was determined that the average level of apelin hormone in saliva was “2.36 ± 0.076)’’ ng/mL in girls and “2.57 ± 0.071’’ ng/mL in boys. In girls, the BDNF level was “3.19 ± 0.97’’ and the cortisol level was “2.04 ± 0.72’’. BDNF level in boys is “3.41 ± 0.94’’and cortisol level is “1.92 ± 0.59’’. There is a significant difference between the participants’ allowances (income levels) and the average levels of salivary apelin hormone, BDNF and emotional intelligence scale (p < 0.01). A positive, strong and statistically significant relationship was found between the participants’ emotional intelligence level and stress management skills and apelin and BDNF levels, and a negative, strong and statistically significant relationship was found between salivary cortisol levels (p˂0.01). Conclusions: High emotional intelligence and stress management skills are an important element of strategic importance for a successful management and professional success process in individuals who will work in fields that need people such as health, marketing, law, consultancy, medicine, teaching and the service sector. Our study determined that as university students’ emotional intelligence levels strengthened, the participants’ stress management skills, salivary apelin, and BDNF levels increased, and cortisol hormone levels decreased. As a result, monitoring and examining apelin, BDNF, cortisol hormones can be useful parameters in evaluating the interaction between individuals’ emotional intelligence level and stress management skills and hormone response.

Karakullukcu, Omur Fatih; Ayhan, Cihan; Guder, Ferhat; Talaghir, Laurentiu-Gabriel; Cosoreanu, Dumitru Marius; Bentea, Cristina Corina

Background: Participation in physical activity is considered an important factor not only for individuals’ physical health but also for their psychological well-being. Developing physical activity habits, especially among university-aged individuals, plays a critical role in long-term health outcomes. In this context, the impact of physical activity enjoyment on individuals’ mental well-being has become a topic of interest. However, the moderating role of individual differences, particularly gender, in this relationship has not yet been sufficiently clarified. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between physical activity enjoyment and mental well-being among university students and to reveal the moderating effect of gender on this relationship. Method: The research was conducted using a relational screening model. The study group consisted of 392 university students (261 male and 131 female; mean age = 22.95 ± 2.58) from Sakarya University of Applied Sciences who participated in campus recreation activities. Data were collected via a face-to-face survey using the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale and the Mental Well-being Scale. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression-based moderation analysis using PROCESS Macro Model 1 were used in the statistical analysis. Results: The level of enjoyment of physical activity was found to have a significant positive effect on mental well-being (r = 0.427, p = 0.001; F = 50.388, p < 0.001; R2 = 0.280). Moderation analysis further showed that gender significantly moderated this relationship (ΔR2 = 0.049; p < 0.001). The effect of enjoyment on mental well-being was significant for both males (β = 0.2693; S.E. = 0.0348; p < 0.001; 95% CI [0.2010, 0.3377]) and females (β = 0.7913; S.E. = 0.0949; p < 0.001; 95% CI [0.6047, 0.9780]), with the effect being stronger among females. Conclusion: The findings show that considering gender-sensitive approaches in physical activity programs to be implemented on university campuses has a potential impact on improving the psychological well-being of students.

The prebiotic potential of alternansucrase-based glucooligosaccharides: the effects on short-chain fatty acids production and microbiome diversity

Ozulku, Gorkem; Harris, Hannah C.; Savva, George M.; Ahn-Jarvis, Jennifer H.; İspirli, Hümeyra; Dertli, Enes; Warren, Frederick J.

Glucooligosaccharides (GLOS) produced by glucansucrases via acceptor reactions are oligosaccharides that transit upper intestinal tract and evade digestion and may be considered to be a prebiotic. The prebiotic function of GLOS can be dictated by the type of acceptor sugar used during its production. Therefore, the prebiotic effect on the gut microbiome and short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) production can be used to inform the selection of acceptor sugars. In this study, alternansucrase-based GLOS derived from different acceptor sugars (melibiose, cellobiose and lactose) and inulin (positive control) were investigated using in vitro colon model fermentation to examine their prebiotic effect and SCFAs production. Microbiome composition was determined using shotgun metagenomics. SCFAs and lactate formation was determined using 1H NMR spectroscopy. Fusicatenibacter saccharivorans and Bacteroides uniformis appeared to increase in abundance after 24 h following fermentation of all three GLOS. The highest abundance for Bifidobacterium longum was seen after supplementation with lactose derived GLOS. Fermentation of GLOS appeared to produce around twice as much acetate than fermentation with inulin, while similar amounts of other SCFAs and lactate were produced. Melibiose derived GLOS supplementation in healthy 3 donors increased F. saccharivorans while inulin supplementation promoted Lactobacillales in order level. This study suggests that there may be beneficial effects of GLOS's on gut microbiome composition and metabolite composition, relative to the effects seen for inulin.

A Promising Antibacterial Inhibition of Propolis Extracts Against Carbapenem-Resistant Bacteria Isolated From Clinical Samples

Esertaş, Ülkü Zeynep; Inal, Neşe; Can, Zehra; Kolaylı, Sevgi

The increasing inadequacy of antibiotics against multidrug-resistant pathogens is a growing concern. In this study, the antibacterial activity of propolis extracts with different phenolic profiles against carbapenem-resistant clinical isolates was investigated. The antimicrobial activity of propolis extract was tested against Acinetobacter baumannii (K17, K16, and K21), Klebsiella pneumoniae (K22, and K19), and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (E5, E7, and E4) bacterial strains isolated from tracheal aspirate and blood cultures. The total phenolic content and phenolic composition of the extracts were analyzed. Antimicrobial activity values examined according to the disk diffusion method were measured as minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). The results showed that all propolis extracts showed different inhibition values against bacterial strains. As a result, the high inhibitory potential of the propolis extracts against resistant bacteria such as A. baumannii, K. pneumoniae, and S. maltophilia is promising for combating infections. However, the study needs to be supported by further randomized clinical studies.

Moderated Mediation in Problematic Digital Gaming Among Adolescents: Self-Esteem, Social Anxiety, Self-Concealment, and Sensation Seeking

Yayla, İbrahim Erdoğan; Makas, Samet; Koçak, Lokman; Yıldırım, Murat; Dombak, Kübra

Background: Problematic digital gaming among adolescents is a common behavioral issue that has negative consequences on school functioning and mental health. Theoretically, it is predicted that low self-esteem paves the way for problematic gaming by increasing social anxiety and self-concealment; this indirect pathway may be stronger in sensation seeking adolescents. Aims: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between self-esteem and problematic digital gaming among adolescents, first through the PROCESS Model 6 in terms of social anxiety and self-concealment as mediators, and subsequently through Model 89 in terms of moderated mediation by sensation seeking. Method: The sample consisted of 448 Turkish adolescents (243 (54.2%) males, 205 (45.8%) females) aged between 13 and 18 years (M = 15.9). Participants completed the Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents—Short Form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Concealment Scale, Brief Sensation Seeking Scale and the Social Anxiety Scale-8. Results: A significant negative relationship was found between self-esteem and problematic digital gaming. Social anxiety and self-concealment fully mediated this relationship (indirect effects were significant). Sensation seeking conditioned the mediation by strengthening pathways to problematic digital gaming (moderated mediation was significant). The indirect effect was greater in those with high sensation seeking. Conclusions: The findings indicate that the negative effect, ranging from self-esteem to problematic digital gaming, progresses through social anxiety and self-concealment, and that this mediation is strengthened in adolescents with high sensation seeking. These results emphasize the need to integrate social anxiety reduction and self-expression skills into interventions in a target-sensitive manner, taking into account differences in sensation seeking.

Expanding Layers of Bacteriocin Applications: From Food Preservation to Human Health Interventions

Demirgül, Furkan; Kaya, Halil İbrahim; Ucar, Redife Aslıhan; Mitaf, Naciye Afranur; Şimşek, Ömer

Bacteriocins, ribosomally synthesized by bacteria, have long been recognized for their role in ensuring food safety and security due to their antibacterial effects against foodborne pathogens and spoilage bacteria. However, recent advancements have unveiled their expanding potential beyond food applications, with increasing evidence of their efficacy against clinically significant pathogenic bacteria, biofilm formation, viral infections, and even cancer. These emerging discoveries have continuously added new layers to the application of bacteriocins, extending their relevance from food preservation to broader human health interventions. To further harness this expanding potential, various innovative strategies have been developed to overcome traditional limitations associated with bacteriocin use. Instead of directly employing bacteriocins or bacteriocin-producing bacterial cultures, novel approaches, such as incorporating them into films and packaging materials or coupling them with nanoparticles, have demonstrated enhanced effectiveness. In this review, we examine the evolving landscape of bacteriocin applications and shed light on the expanding functional spectrum of bacteriocins for both food safety and human health, although some important challenges and limitations remain. By analyzing the recent literature and innovative technological advancements, we highlight how bacteriocins are continuously evolving, opening new frontiers for their use and reinforcing their significance beyond their conventional roles.

Background: The escalating prevalence of risky behaviors during adolescence has emerged as a grave threat to public health, posing one of the most significant psychological, social, and health-related challenges globally. These behaviors impact the individual and have negative consequences on families and society. As a pressing concern for communities, healthcare organizations, and social policymakers, identifying factors leading adolescents toward risky behaviors is paramount and urgent. Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted in Ardabil, Iran, in 2024. Using convenience sampling, 200 s-year high school girls with an average age of 17 were selected. Participants were asked to complete three questionnaires: the Dark Triad Personality Test, the Revised Family Communication Patterns Scale (RFCP), and the Questionnaire of Risky Behaviors (QRB). The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis, utilizing SPSS version 20. Results: The findings revealed a significant positive correlation (p < 0.01) between machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy, and the conformity interaction pattern with a tendency toward risky behaviors in adolescents. Additionally, there was a significant negative correlation (p < 0.01) between the conversation interaction pattern and risky behaviors. The results further indicated that 30.4% (p < 0.01) of the variance in risky behavior tendencies in adolescent girls could be explained by the Dark Triad personality traits. In comparison, the interaction patterns of conversation and parental conformity could account for 37% (p < 0.01). Conclusions: This study suggests that the Dark Triad personality traits and parental interaction patterns can effectively predict adolescent girls’ tendencies toward risky behaviors. These results underscore the need for effective management strategies addressing these variables in school programs to provide early interventions that may prevent the escalation of risky behaviors among adolescents.

Biosynthesis of Functionalized Silver Nanomaterials Utilizing Seeds of Black Rosehip (Rosa pimpinellifolia L.) and its Remarkable Antioxidative Capacity

    Kizil, Hamit Emre

Background: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have gained significant attention due to their unique antimicrobial, catalytic and optical properties. This study focuses on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using black rosehip (Rosa pimpinellifolia L.) seeds (Rp-AgNPs) and evaluates their biological activities. Methods: Rp-AgNPs were synthesized using R. pimpinellifolia seed extract and characterized using multiple analytical techniques including UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR, TEM, SEM, EDAX, zeta potential analysis, DSC, SERS and XPS. The biological activities were assessed through DPPH free radical scavenging assay, cytotoxicity testing against H460 lung cancer cells and antimicrobial activity evaluation against various pathogens. Result: The synthesized Rp-AgNPs exhibited spherical morphology with an average size of 51.27 nm and demonstrated stability with a zeta potential of-18.9. The nanoparticles showed enhanced antioxidant activity (IC50 = 30.89 μg/mL) compared to the seed extract (IC50 = 136.4 μg/mL). Cytotoxicity studies revealed significant effects against H460 cells with an IC50 of 65.8 μg/mL. Antimicrobial testing demonstrated effectiveness against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (MIC 50-100 μg/mL) and Candida strains (MIC 100-200 μg/mL).

The Effect of Cannabidiol on Myokine, Cerebral and Cardiac Response in Rats with Sepsis Induced by Cecal Ligation and Punture Method

    Erkiliç, T. Orkun; Bayraktar, B.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Cannabidiol on myokine (Irisin), cerebral (BDNF) and cardiac (cTnI) responses in sepsis-induced rats by Cecal Ligation Perforation (CLP) method. Methods: In this study, 40 adult male Wistar albino rats, aged between 8-10 weeks, were used. 5 groups were created, with 8 rats in each group: Control (C), Sham (S), CLP, CLP+CBD 2.5 mg/kg, CLP+CBD 5 mg/kg group. Rats in groups C and Sham were sacrificed at the end of the 10th hour and intracardiac blood was taken immediately afterwards. In groups CLP, CLP+2.5 mg/kg, CLP+5 mg/kg, intra-abdominal sepsis was induced and at the end of the 10th hour after sepsis occurred with CLP application, rats were sacrificed and intracardiac blood was taken immediately afterwards. İrisin, BDNF and cTnI levels in the serum samples were measured by ELISA method. Result: In the present study, mean serum irisin, BDNF and levels were determined to be at the lowest level in the CLP group, while cTnI levels were at the highest level (p<0.01). In CLP groups, serum irisin and BDNF levels increased due to CBD addition and the most significant decrease in cTnI levels occurred in 5 mg/kg CBD groups. As a result, it was concluded that CLP may be safe and beneficial when administered at a dose of 5 mg/kg in sepsis-induced rats.
