Çavus, Ahmet; Ünlü, Hami
In this study, the difficulties encountered by disabled individuals staying in tourism-certified hotels in the Eastern Black Sea Region, which has recently become an important tourism destination, and their expec- tations from the hotels were investigated. In this research, which was designed on a qualitative research design, a semi-structured interview form was applied to 13 disabled individuals who stayed in hotels in the Eastern Black Sea region according to the maximum diversity method, and data were obtained. Within the scope of the research, four questions were asked of the disabled individuals about their expectations from hotels, their expectations from other tourism stakeholders, the difficulties they face in hotels, and what determines their hotel preferences. Four questions for disabled individuals constitute the themes of the research. Under the themes, 18 categories and 49 codes were created according to the responses received from the disabled individuals. Thus, this study aimed to determine the problems and expectations of disabled individuals in hotels. The study findings show that the expectations of disabled individuals from hotels and other tourism stakeholders include improving physical structures, rearranging pricing policies, increasing transportation opportunities, and providing incentives and cooperation for developing social responsibility projects.

Erdoğan, Yaşar
This study investigated the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from electric fence systems on physiological and reproductive parameters of male honeybees (Apis mellifera caucasica). The study was conducted between May and August 2024 at the Bayburt University Beekeeping Application and Research Center, with five experimental groups. Hives were positioned at varying distances (1–2.5 m) from the fence. The findings showed that the average body weight (245.4 mg), sexual maturity rate (58.56%), and sperm concentration (0.87 ± 0.04 × 10 ⁶/µL) of drones closest to the electric fence were significantly reduced (p < 0.05). The electric field effect was limited in groups at greater distances, with statistically insignificant differences in some parameters. No significant differences were found between groups in sperm volume. Results demonstrate that electric fields from fence systems suppress developmental processes and reproductive physiology of drones in a distance-dependent manner. Lower body weight, decreased sperm concentration, and proportion of mature males in colonies near the fence show electromagnetic stress is a significant risk for bee health. Future studies should examine the effects of electromagnetic fields at different frequencies and strengths on larval development, sperm morphology, oxidative stress markers, and gene expression profiles.

Aksakalli, Ayhan
This study examines how quantum metaphors such as wave-particle duality, observer effect, uncertainty principle, and superposition reframe the ontology of the learner in educational contexts. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, the research explores how fifteen undergraduate physics students perceive their learning experiences through these metaphors. Findings reveal that learners do not possess fixed, measurable identities. Instead, they emerge as fluid, relational beings whose subjectivities are continuously shaped by contextual interactions. Wave-particle duality highlights the fragile multiplicity of student identity, while the observer effect shows how pedagogical environments reconstruct self-perception through observation. The uncertainty principle reflects students' epistemological disorientation and ontological instability, and superposition reveals the coexistence of conflicting roles and desires. The study critiques traditional assessment practices that reduce learners to standardized outcomes, advocating for formative and process-centered evaluations that acknowledge complexity and becoming. Through the notion of quantum pedagogy, the research proposes a dynamic, observer-dependent understanding of learner subjectivity. Ultimately, quantum metaphors are positioned not merely as explanatory devices but as critical tools for reimagining pedagogical existence, offering a framework attuned to the complexities of contemporary education.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025A Psychometric Analysis of The Mathematics Learning Disability Screening Scale Developed Through DSM-5
Filiz, Tunahan; Çelik, Ahmet
Purpose: This study, it was aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool by evaluating the psychometric properties of the Mathematics Learning Disabilities Screening Scale (MLDSS) for elementary and secondary school students. In this context, a measurement tool that is culturally and linguistically appropriate for the Turkish context and overcomes the limitations of translated scales was developed. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study was conducted as a scale development study within a survey research design. The scale's items were developed based on DSM-5 criteria and an extensive literature review. The sample consisted of 644 students, identified by their teachers, from 120 schools across Türkiye's seven geographical regions. The psychometric properties of the scale were evaluated using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), along with internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha) and test-retest reliability analyses. Findings: The EFA results revealed a three-factor structure (Number Sense, Calculation, and Mathematical Reasoning) that explained 68.5% of the total variance. The CFA confirmed this structure, with goodness-of-fit indices indicating an excellent model fit (e.g., CFI = .95, IFI = .95, RMSEA = .069, χ²/df = 2.41). The scale demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha = .93) and strong test-retest reliability (r = .90). Highlights: The mathematics learning disability screening scale is a valid and reliable instrument developed for elementary and secondary school students. Its three-factor structure is consistent with modern theories of mathematics learning disabilities and its strong psychometric properties make it a valuable tool for educators and experts in early identification and intervention planning.

Kubar, Yesim; Kurt, Duygu Baysal; Ketenci, Seyit Taha
Coffee producing countries have large production capacities, but the inefficient use of the income earned from the export of this product may have a negative impact on the economic growth rate. The fact that coffee producing countries are the world leaders in terms of coffee production and exports increases the possibility of the Dutch Disease problem in these countries. This has been the main motivation for investigating the existence of Dutch Disease in coffee-producing countries. In this study, the effect of Dutch Disease in the agricultural sector was analyzed by using the variables of coffee production amount, real exchange rate, GDP (gross domestic product), agricultural added value, exports, foreign direct investments and foreign trade deficit of Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Vietnam, Uganda, India, which produce the best coffee among the coffee producing countries and rank first in terms of production amount for the period 1989-2022. The long-term relationship between the variables was examined using the Pedroni panel cointegration test, and a significant cointegration relationship was found in the panel group. Long-term coefficient estimates were obtained using the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) method. The coefficients were found to be statistically significant in both country-level and panel-level analyses. However, no direct evidence was found to support the existence of Dutch Disease. This finding was supported by the Hurlin panel causality test, which revealed that coffee production and exports did not lead to structural deterioration in the agricultural sector, indicating that no Dutch Disease effect was observed.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Speeding up the Discrete Cosine Transform Through Custom Operations and Fixed-Point Arithmetic
Akçay, Latif; Engin, Mustafa Alptekin
Digital signal processing applications are becoming increasingly important because modern systems work with much larger amounts of data than before. The Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), used in almost all multimedia compression methods, creates a significant computational load especially in resource-constrained embedded systems. This study proposes four custom operations compatible with Transport-Triggered Architecture (TTA). To enhance computational efficiency and avoid floating-point overhead, fixed-point arithmetic is used. To analyse the effect of the proposed operations, different Application-Specific Instruction Set Processor (ASIP) configurations were created on a general-purpose processor architecture. Performance analyses show that speedups between 2x and 3.5x are achieved. In addition, the developed processor models have been implemented in hardware. FPGA synthesis results indicate a reasonable increase in chip area, showing that the proposed solutions could be an efficient alternative, particularly for limited-resource embedded systems.

Aktepe, Cemalettin; İzgi, Fatma
Artificial intelligence is having an increasingly significant impact on the functioning of international trade, productivity dynamics, and policy processes today. This study examined the role of artificial intelligence applications in international trade and identified research trends in the field using a bibliometric approach. The study analyzed 146 articles published between 1981 and 2025, using the keywords ‘international trade’ and ‘artificial intelligence applications’ in the Web of Science database on 4 September 2025. Subject areas and document types were considered during the search process; publication trends, collaborations between countries and institutions, the most-cited studies, and keyword networks were evaluated using VOSviewer. The findings show that academic output in the fields of artificial intelligence and international trade has increased rapidly, particularly since 2018, with 2024 exhibiting the highest publication volume. It was found that most studies were concentrated in the field of Business Economics. The analysis results clearly reveal that the United States, the United Kingdom, and China are leaders in both publication and citation counts. The original contribution of this study is that, unlike bibliometric studies commonly found in the literature that approach the relationship between ‘artificial intelligence and international trade’ from a general perspective, it addresses the subject from an international trade perspective, focusing on artificial intelligence applications. In this respect, the study provides a more targeted contribution to the field by revealing both the direction of development in the literature and the application areas in which artificial intelligence is concentrated in trade processes.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Assessing the Economic Impact of Medical Tourism: A Sectoral Analysis
Okur, Fatih; Murat
Purpose – This study aims to determine the contribution of health tourism, which is a sector in the trend of development and growth, to the Turkish economy in the period 2010q1-2023q4. The study attempts to show how promoting medical tourism, as stated in the Health Transformation Program, can increase economic growth in Türkiye. Methodology/Design/Approach – This study analyses the industrial production index, medical tourism revenues, and real effective exchange rate data to examine the causality relationship in the short, medium, and long term within the framework of the “frequency domain causality approach”. Findings – while there is causality from the industrial production index, which represents economic growth, to medical tourism revenues in every period, no causality was found from medical tourism to economic growth. A causality was found from the real effective exchange rate to economic growth in the short and medium term, but no causality was found from economic growth to the real effective exchange rate. The findings show a causality from medical tourism revenues to the real effective exchange rate in the short term and a causality from the real effective exchange rate to tourism revenues in the medium term. This explains why healthcare services have become cheaper in Turkey due to the increase in the exchange rate. Originality of the research – It is thought that the method and period applied in the study could fill the gap in the literature.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Speculative House Price Bubble Dynamics and Bursting Mechanisms in Türkiye: A Threshold Regression Model Proposal
Kuzu, Mehmet
One of the most current social and socio-economic problems in Türkiye is the speculative bubbles that have formed in the housing markets due to the current economic and financial crisis, making it difficult for households to own a house. This study analyzes the dynamics and bursting mechanisms of speculative price bubbles in the Turkish housing market. The GSADF test was applied using monthly data for 2012-2024 to identify bubble periods in the housing market. In the determined bubble periods, robust regression analysis was performed to determine the main factors affecting these price formations. In addition, the Kalman filtering method was used to examine the dynamic coefficients of housing price bubbles that change over time. The findings show that falling interest rates trigger housing price bubbles in Türkiye in an inflationary process; the bursting of the bubbles is associated with increasing domestic and foreign risk premiums, interest rate expectations, and realized interest rate increases. In addition, it investigated how the current housing bubble can burst in a controlled manner through the threshold regression model. The study results reveal that maintaining the interest rate difference between Türkiye and the US within 10% to 17% is critical in preventing financial and economic instabilities regarding housing prices. In addition, it can be argued that the current inflation rate and risk premiums should be managed effectively to ensure stability in housing prices.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Evaluation of Small Livestock Farms in Çorum Province in terms of Structural Characteristics, Herd Management Practices, Biosecurity and Animal Welfare
Tekce, Emre; Aydemir, Seyma; Bayraktar, Bulent; Kotan, Gökşad Cemil; Öztürk, Duygu
This study was conducted to examine the structural characteristics, biosecurity, and animal welfare practices of 120 small ruminant farms in Çorum province. The study included face-to-face surveys, observations, and measurements on farms with at least 50 animals, where a total of 17 different parameters were considered: 7 related to shelters, 7 related to building and equipment conditions, and 3 related to animal health. The majority of participating farm owners were young and middle-aged men who rely on livestock farming as their primary source of income (69%). The sector shows growth potential, demonstrated by the fact that 65% of farmers reported an increase in flock size over the last five years. However, a significant deficiency in modern herd management was identified, as 70% of farms do not use formal record-keeping systems. In terms of biosecurity, although 90.83% of breeders follow a regular vaccination schedule, crucial preventive measures like physical area disinfection and manure removal are performed infrequently, often only once a year. Lack of knowledge about biosecurity and excessive costs were reported as the main obstacles to effective implementation. The welfare assessment, based on the ANI 35L-derived protocol, rated the farms' housing and equipment status as "medium", with critical deficiencies noted in insulation and facilities for heat and cold protection (77.5% lack insulation). However, animal health parameters were generally rated as "moderate", with only skin condition being scored as "good". In conclusion, small ruminant farms in Çorum exhibit growth potential but urgently require improvements in key areas such as record-keeping, biosecurity measures, and modern barn infrastructure to enhance animal welfare and productivity.
