- MakaleAçık Erişim2026Scopus SJRQ1Policy factors affecting international sporting success in Turkey from the perspective of the SPLISS model
Ersöz, G.; Kan, M.E.; Yenilmez, M. Ince; Kantar, G.
In recent years, research on elite sport policies has mainly focused on systems in Europe, North America and Australia. This study represents the first qualitative analysis of Turkey within the framework of the SPLISS model, aiming to fill the regional gap in the literature and offer original contributions regarding the model’s cultural and structural adaptability. In this context, the study aims to analyse the policy factors affecting international sporting success in Turkey. A total of 15 individuals–five athletes, five coaches and five sports managers–aged between 21 and 51 and actively involved in sport, participated in the study. A semi-structured interview technique was used, with questions prepared from the SPLISS model perspective, and the data were analysed using content analysis. The findings reveal that financial support for sport in Turkey is inadequate, there is no merit-based system in sports governance, the limited hours and content of physical education classes in schools reduce participation in sport, career support for athletes is insufficient, talent identification projects are dysfunctional, coach education has significant shortcomings and there is a lack of collaboration between sport science researchers and practitioners. The study indicates that Turkey’s sports policies require comprehensive restructuring through reforms in several areas, including equitable financial support, merit-based governance, enhanced collaboration and coordination among sport institutions, long-term strategic planning, strengthening school-based sport, sustainable career support for athletes and fostering stronger cooperation between researchers and practitioners in sport sciences.
- MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ1From spiritual resilience to moral maturity: the role of religious education
Dombak, Kübra; Yayla, İbrahim Erdoğan; çelik, Eyüp
This study examined the mediating role of life in meaning and the moderating effect of religion education on the relationship between spiritual resilience and moral maturity. Data were collected using the Moral Maturity Scale, The Spiritual Resilience Scale and Meaning in Life Scale. The participants consisted of 203 women and 133 men aged 19–63 living in Turkey. Spiritual resilience, moral maturity, life in meaning and religion education were tested in the study using Hayes Process Macro Model 8 moderated mediation. The results revealed that life in meaning mediates the relationship between spiritual resilience and moral maturity. Additionally, the mediating model was found to be stronger among individuals who had received religion education. Furthermore, receiving religion education was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between spiritual resilience and the presence of the meaning sub-dimension. These findings were discussed in the context of relevant literature.
- MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ1Reading intentions, not just behaviours: a NIKOM-informed pedagogical approach for religious education
Çinici, Murat
Religious education (RE) meets a recurring diagnostic problem: a pupil can recite doctrine, join in ritual talk, and give the ‘right’ moral answer while the underlying belief stays untouched. This article introduces the Intention Code Model (NIKOM; Niyet Kodu Modeli) to RE as a disciplined language for that problem. NIKOM is a mechanistic cognitive framework built on conditional IF→THEN ‘codes’ that probabilistically chain, activate, and align bodily and cognitive systems, and can be rewritten. Its central claim–a surface-compliance paradox, whereby observable behavioural change need not indicate code-level change–maps onto Kelman’s distinction between compliance and internalisation. The article sets out NIKOM for an RE readership, positions it among established RE pedagogies, distinguishes it from Gollwitzer’s implementation intentions, and derives a pedagogical stance, dialogue moves, and a developmental proposal for ‘code literacy’, with worked religious and non-religious vignettes for primary and secondary levels. The setting is non-confessional, educational RE; behaviour is no index of belief, and the affective and spiritual dimensions of learning are not reduced to cognition alone. NIKOM is offered as a theoretical synthesis awaiting validation, not a proven method; the article closes with an ethical analysis of ‘rewriting’ pupils’ codes and a research agenda.
- Derleme MakaleAçık Erişim2026Scopus SJRQ2From Technology Adoption to Organizational Governance: Mapping the Intellectual Structure and Shifting Paradigms of AI Governance in Educational Leadership
Kayalı, Bünyami; Yavuz, Mehmet; Bozkurt, Aras
This study maps the intellectual structure and thematic evolution of the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and educational leadership in related literature. Employing a hybrid research design that integrates bibliometric analysis with Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA)-based topic modeling, we examined 757 unique records retrieved from the Web of Science and Scopus databases for the period 2017–2026. Through computational optimization, the corpus was delineated into six emerging research themes that dictate the field’s shifting paradigms: “Digital Leadership & Transformation,” “Teaching & Student Learning,” “AI Acceptance & Self-Efficacy,” “Data Management & Machine Learning,” “School Leadership & Principals,” and “Technical & Computational Fields.” While “Digital Leadership & Transformation” dominates over half of the literature, a sharp proportional decline in “School Leadership & Principals” uncovers a critical structural imbalance between abstract institutional transformation discourse and the actual human agents executing it. Furthermore, a severe underrepresentation of technical, governance, and transparency themes exposes a critical “opaque box” crisis of institutional agency. The study concludes that the field remains theoretically fragmented and calls for an integrated socio-technical framework reconciling leadership governance with the complex realities of AI systems.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2026Scopus SJRQ2Does sensory experiences affect satisfaction with street food?
Apak, Ömer Ceyhun
This paper explores the relationships between domestic tourists’ sensory experience, place dependence, and satisfaction in street food. The research was conducted based on responses from 438 domestic tourists who visited Izmir (Türkiye) and consumed street food. This study uses the relational survey method to examine the relationships between variables. The study revealed direct relationships between variables using SEM. Then, the mediating role of place dependence in the effect of sensory experiences on satisfaction was tested using PROCESS macros. The results show that sensory experiences (sight, smell, and taste) and place dependence positively and significantly affect satisfaction. In addition, Model 4 of the PROCESS macro found the significant mediating role of place dependence in the effect of sensory experiences on satisfaction.

Yetisensoy, Okan
Formative assessment practices have been a significant focus in Social Studies education for many years. One commonly used technique in these practices is the diagnostic branched tree, which is designed to assess students’ understanding through a branching structure based on their responses. While this technique shows promise for identifying students' learning status and gaps throughout the ongoing process, it presents several structural limitations. This research aims to address these limitations by integrating diagnostic branched trees with natural language understanding, a key AI technique in educational assessment, thereby enhancing their diagnostic capabilities and making them smarter tools in educational settings. Furthermore, this research seeks to evaluate the impact of this revised system in middle schools within a practical setting. Following the development phase, the results of the experimental study demonstrated that the revised system had a significantly positive impact on students' learning performance. Qualitative data, meanwhile, suggested that this success was largely due to the system's ability to provide formative feedback and personalized guidance, which fostered metacognition and self-regulated learning. At this point, considering the positive transformations brought about by technology, it is recommended that innovative technologies be developed to enhance formative assessment across various levels of K–12 education.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2026Scopus SJRQ1When grief persists online: Development of the Digital Prolonged Grief Severity Scale
Çınar, Öznur; Cengiz, Ekrem
Bereaved individuals encounter the deceased through social media profiles, message histories, and algorithmic reminders, yet no validated instrument measures prolonged grief expressed through digital interactions. We developed and validated a multidimensional measure of digital-environment prolonged grief severity (DPGSS). Turkish bereaved adults (n = 577) bereaved at least 12 months earlier completed the DPGSS alongside grief, distress, and other less relevant measures, and 125 completed it again about three weeks later. Factor analyses supported a four-factor structure—digital separation distress and preoccupation, digital emotional responses, digital avoidance, and digital functional impairment—in 15 items. The correlated four-factor model fit the data well, outperforming a one-factor alternative. The DPGSS demonstrated strong internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and measurement invariance across nine demographic variables. Convergent associations with grief and distress, and negligible associations with rigidity and AI acceptance, supported its construct specificity. The DPGSS-15 is a reasonable tool for assessing digital prolonged grief.

Yavuz, Mehmet; Kayalı, Bünyami; Üstün, Ayşin Gaye; Uçar, Hasan; Erdoğdu, Erdem; Bozkurt, Aras
While digitalization has increased flexibility in online distance learning, it has also brought challenges such as emotional strain, interactional issues, and social isolation. In this context, students’ sense of social “presence” is vital for sustaining their well-being and ensuring high-quality interaction. Grounded in Transactional Distance Theory (TDT) and the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework, this study modeled the relationships between social presence (SP) and interaction types within the using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The Social Presence and Transactional Distance Scales were used as data collection instruments. The sample comprised 574 online distance learners, with data collected via an online questionnaire. The results of the SEM analysis showed that SP was a significant positive predictor of all interaction types. Findings show that SP most strongly influences student–student and student–learning environment interactions, while also significantly enhancing student–instructor, student–content, and student–interface interactions. These results indicate that online learning environments should support not only content delivery but also meaningful social interaction. The study highlights the value of SP-oriented design in open, online and distance education systems and offers strategic recommendations for instructors, content developers, and digital learning administrators. Future research should compare synchronous and asynchronous learning structures.

- MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ2Self-regulation in blood glucose management among middle-aged and older adults with type 2 diabetes in a rural and semi-rural setting: A qualitative study
Akeren, İhsan; Akeren, Zahide
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with increasing prevalence, particularly among middle-aged and older adults. Effective blood glucose management is essential for preventing complications and improving quality of life. Although self-regulation has been widely examined in diabetes management, little is known about how middle-aged and older adults living in rural and semi-rural settings apply self-regulation strategies in daily life. This qualitative study explored the blood glucose management experiences of individuals aged 50 years and older with T2DM using Zimmerman’s cyclical self-regulated learning model. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 16 hospitalized participants meeting the rural or semi-rural residence criterion. Data were analyzed using an inductive-deductive hybrid thematic approach and organized with MAXQDA 20. Three main themes and 13 subthemes were identified: preparation and awareness, barriers and management behaviors, and self-evaluation and internal awareness. During the forethought phase, participants described knowledge, motivation, awareness, and planning but also reported misconceptions about diet and blood glucose management. In the performance phase, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social barriers, comorbidities, and poor adherence to dietary recommendations were common. During self-reflection, participants recognized physical symptoms and emotional influences but rarely reported systematically evaluating outcomes or modifying subsequent management behaviors. The findings indicate that inadequate knowledge, emotional challenges, comorbidities, limited social support, and ineffective coping strategies may disrupt the cyclical self-regulation process. Educational interventions for middle-aged and older adults in rural and semi-rural settings should strengthen knowledge, support self-management behaviors, and promote evaluation of outcomes and adaptation of future actions.
- MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ2Attracting Volunteers Through Social Media Marketing in Environmental Organizations
Çetinkaya, Ali; Bilgin, Yusuf; Elmalı, Kübra
Nowadays, environmental organizations have strategically leveraged social media platforms to raise environmental awareness, promote pro-environmental behavior, manage environmental campaigns, and encourage environmental volunteerism. This study aims to investigate the impact of social media marketing activities conducted by environmental organizations on followers’ pro-environmental behaviors and their intentions to engage in environmental volunteering. The research sample consists of social media users who follow the ten most prominent environmental organizations in Turkey–organizations known for their commitment to protecting nature and the environment–on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. A quantitative research method was employed, and data were collected from 512 respondents through an online survey. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings reveal that social media marketing activities, taken as a whole, have a significant and positive effect on both followers’ pro-environmental behaviors and their environmental volunteering intentions. Among the five components, timeliness, awareness, and customization were found to have the strongest influence on volunteering intentions, while timeliness and interaction significantly affected pro-environmental behavior. Additionally, the analysis confirmed that pro-environmental behavior mediates the relationship between social media marketing activities and environmental volunteering intentions. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on environmental communication by demonstrating how specific social media marketing strategies can enhance both environmental engagement and behavioral outcomes among followers. The findings offer practical insights for environmental organizations aiming to strengthen their impact through targeted and effective social media practices.

- MakaleYalnız künye2025Scopus SJRQ2Pedagogical spectacle: performativity, platform capitalism, and the aesthetic capture of critique
Aksakallı, Ayhan
This text is not merely a study of pedagogy but an intervention in pedagogy as spectacle. Structured in seven scenes, it examines how education in the digital age becomes a performance of visibility, an algorithmic rhythm, and a commodified production of knowledge. Drawing on critical theory, poststructuralist thought, and radical pedagogy, it refuses conventional academic form through fragmentation, rhythmic rupture, and narrative interruption. The text reveals how the student is shaped into a marketable subject, how critique is aestheticized into consumable content, and how the classroom functions as the stage of algorithmic flows. Each scene—from the commodified image of Freire to the pornographization of knowledge—produces opacity and resistance against smooth circulation. The central claim is radical: authentic pedagogical resistance lies not in teaching, performing, or concluding, but in silence, delay, and withdrawal as deliberate acts of opposition.

- MakaleYalnız künye2025Scopus SJRQ1Analysis of the relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy: a cultural comparison
Kaya, Metin; Demir, Mustafa
This meta-analysis study aims to analyze the relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy in a cultural context. The meta-analysis included a total of 47 studies in different cultures in different countries. The results of the analysis for all 47 studies involved suggested a medium-level relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy. The combined effect size was calculated for all studies according to random effect models (ES =.48). And it is concluded that the power distance and long-term orientation of countries positively predict the relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy. In addition, it is concluded that the individualism tendency of countries negatively predicts the relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy. Moreover, it is determined that the uncertainty avoidance and masculinity tendencies of countries do not predict the relationship between school leadership and collective teacher efficacy. In line with these results, school managers working in countries that have high power distance, collectivity, long-term investment, and limitation tendency should benefit from these opportunities to carry out and complete the school mission. School managers in countries that have low power distance, collectivity, long-term investment, and limitation tendency should develop different strategies.

Prospective technicians for elderly care are indispensable elements that should be included in the relevant system to meet the ever-increasing care needs of the aging world population and increase the quality of care. This research was conducted to evaluate the attitudes of students in the elderly care program at the associate degree toward the older adults and their willingness to provide care. The sample of this descriptive and cross-sectional study comprised 525 volunteer students in elderly care programs in five vocational schools of higher education located in northeastern Turkey between June 2020 and September 2020. Mean, standard deviation, number, percentage, independent t-test, and correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. The study showed that the mean age of the students involved in the study was 20.3 ± 1.6. 77.7% of them were female, and 61.9% were in the first grade. Students’ willingness to care for older adults was found to be at a moderate level (36.3 ± 6.0). The students had a negative attitude (137.4 ± 26.7) about aging and elderliness. The willingness of male students to care for older adults was significantly higher (p <.05). Those who did not live with an older adult in the same house before had a more negative attitude toward them (p <.05). To get rid of personal and social stereotypes and have a positive attitude toward older adults, students should be provided to work in clinical environments that will allow them to spend more time with them.

Purpose: The highest work-rate that provides maximal oxygen uptake ((Formula presented.)) may be one of the best exercise stimuli to yield both (Formula presented.) and lactate accumulation. The aim of this study was to analyze physiological and metabolic acute responses of an exercise modality performed at the upper boundary of the severe exercise domain, and compare those responses with exercise modalities applied within the severe exercise domain. Method: Ten trained male cyclists participated in this study. The (Formula presented.), corresponding power output (POVO2max), and the highest work-rate that provides the (Formula presented.) (IHIGH) were determined by constant work-rate exercises. Cyclists performed three high-intensity interval training (HIIT) strategies as follows; HIIT-1: 4–6 × 3-min at 95% of POVO2max with 1:1 (workout/rest ratio); HIIT-2: 16–18 × 1-min at 105% of POVO2max with 1:1; HIIT-3: 4–7 × 1-2-min at the IHIGH with 1:2. Capillary blood samples were analyzed before, immediately after HIIT sessions, and at the first, third, and fifth minutes of recovery periods. Lactate difference between the highest lactate response and resting status was considered as the peak lactate response for each HIIT modality. Results: Time spent at (Formula presented.) was greater at HIIT-1 and HIIT-3 (272 ± 127 and 208 ± 111 seconds, respectively; p = 0.155; effect size = 0.43) when compared to the HIIT-2 (~26 seconds; p < 0.001), while there was a greater lactate accumulation at HIIT-3 (~16 mmol·L−1) when compared to HIIT-1 and HIIT-2 (12 and 14 mmol·L−1, respectively; p < 0.001). Conclusions: In conclusion, HIIT-3 performed at IHIGH was successful to provide time spent at (Formula presented.) with a greater lactate accumulation in a single session.
