Introduction: The importance of desirable physical activity as a deterrent and risk factor for the elderly is well known. The present study was conducted to investigate the role of parks’ social functions on adherence to physical activity in elderly people in Mashhad During epidemic disease (COVID-19). Method: This cross-sectional study was performed using a structured interview technique and a multi-part questionnaire on 100 elderly people. Sampling was done in two stages using a systematic random method. Results: Based on the results, it was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between the social function of parks and its components with adherence to physical activity in the elderly (P <0.05) and well as 18% of adherence to physical activity changes is related to the social function of parks. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that many factors are affecting physical activity in elderly people, which understanding these factors help educators and other health professionals in designing appropriate intervention programs. Maintaining regular PA during self-isolation is important for the prevention of future chronic health conditions due to a sedentary lifestyle. During crises, functional medical care and vital societal services are of the highest priority.

Propolis is a multi-functional bee product rich in polyphenols. In this study, the inhibitory effect of Anatolian propolis against SARS-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was investigated in vitro and in silico. Raw and commercial propolis samples were used, and both samples were found to be rich in caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, t-cinnamic acid, hesperetin, chrysin, pinocembrin, and caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) at HPLC-UV analysis. Ethanolic propolis extracts (EPE) were used in the ELISA screening test against the spike S1 protein (SARS-CoV-2): ACE-2 interaction for in vitro study. The binding energy values of these polyphenols to the SARS-CoV-2 spike and ACE-2 protein were calculated separately with a molecular docking study using the AutoDock 4.2.6 program. In addition, the pharmacokinetics and drug-likeness properties of these eight polyphenols were calculated according to the SwissADME tool. The binding energy value of pinocembrin was highest in both receptors, followed by chrysin, CAPE, and hesperetin. Based on the in silico modeling and ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) behaviors of the eight polyphenols, the compounds exhibited the potential ability to act effectively as novel drugs. The findings of both studies showed that propolis has a high inhibitory potential against the Covid-19 virus. However, further studies are now needed.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2020Scopus SJRQ2‘Tele-education’ in the COVID-19 pandemic process in Turkey: A mental diaspora research specific to Turkish Language Teaching students
Ustabulut, Mete Yusuf; Keskin, Savaş
This study tries to map educational processes that have to be transformed into the extraordinary history of the COVID-19 pandemic and adapt to the ‘new normal’ with a relational and metaphoric approach. In the study, the existing physical and mental conditions of the students who are "scattered/dispersed" geographically due to the mandatory "return home" in the pandemic process are conceptualized with the metaphor of the "diaspora". The study aims to draw attention to student-centered social problems by questioning the functionality of tele-education processes, which are designed to compensate for interrupted educational relationships and make them sustainable again. It is aimed to measure the effects of online consciousness that were deterritorialized by human-computer interaction and computer-mediated communication on student performances and to understand student motivations during the tele-education process. Therefore, a survey was conducted at ten universities in Turkey and reached 150 students through the snowball sampling technique. The results of the study show that the student self-perception of the tele-education process coincides with the diasporic identity and this unusual technology integration that cannot be fully compensated triggers mental diaspora feelings.
