Optical, Structural and Morphological Characterization of a Zn-Doped GaAs Semiconducting Thin Film Produced by Thermionic Vacuum Arc

Senay, Volkan; Özen, Soner; Pat, Suat; Korkmaz, Sadan

A 780 nm thick Zn-doped GaAs p-type semiconducting film was deposited onto a glass substrate under a high vacuum condition by means of the thermionic vacuum arc technique in a very short period of time (90 sec) using GaAs and Zn pellets as source materials. In order to characterize the produced film, the optical constants and absorbance of the film were measured using optical methods. By using the obtained optical absorbance data, the optical band gap was estimated from the Tauc plot based on the relation (alpha hv)(2) = B(hv - E-g). The refractive index value of the film was 3.73 at lambda = 632.8 nm. The band gap was estimated to be 1.35 eV. According to the results obtained from the FESEM and AFM related studies, the produced film displayed a granular surface morphology with a root mean square roughness of 17 nm. Contact angle measurements of several testing liquids were used to characterize the film in terms of wettability. It was found that the contact angle value was dependent on the liquid used. However, the film was hydrophilic as observed in contact angle measurements.

Sosyal bilgiler eğitimi öğretmen adaylarının sosyal mesafe kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforlar

    Kuzey, Memet

An Attempt to Interpret the Concepts of Nafs, Mind And Heart Within The Context of Id, Ego and Superego: The Case of Fuzuli's Divan

    Karaduman, Ruken

Most of the time, scientists and artists use distinct concepts to explain the self that a person seeks to understand and explain. Divan (Ottoman Divan Poetry Tradition) poets, on the other hand, processed historic information, teachings, and beliefs in a universal way, based on human traits, even if they were labelled differently in different eras and geographies. Indeed, analyses based on literature and findings from other fields reveal that divan poetry is a unity encircled by a framework of logic and universality. Studies in Psychology and psychoanalysis provide many options for analysing the human being represented in classical poems from a distinct perspective in this context. With his structural theory of personality, Freud, who conducted major studies on psychoanalysis, states that human emotions and behaviours emerge as a result of the effects of mental systems called id, ego, and superego. The id, as a structure that acts in accordance with unconscious desires, impulses, and the pleasure aiming principle, the ego, as a conscious balance mechanism that attempts to connect with reality, and the superego, as the inner delegate of traditional values and ideals, are all described in detail in this theory. The ego's effort to dominate the impulses, which tries to satisfy its ego functions, and on the other hand, to reconcile the id and the superego with reality is mentioned as a contrast between the immoral claims of the id and the moral and conscientious aspect of the superego, which tries to achieve perfection. These systems, which can be described as elements of the self, are frequently discussed in the tradition, notably in mystical poems, with the concepts of nafs, mind, and heart. The nafs, which pursues mundane pleasures and irrational desires that are incompatible with the aim of human existence, appears in traditional Turkish poetry as a humiliated and criticized element with these traits. The heart, which acts according to its desires and is unaware of divine reality, is portrayed as a spiritual structure that defines good and evil, particularly within the context of mystical teachings, as it strives to achieve the ideal of being a perfect human being. The mind, on the other hand, must resist the nafs' urges and activate the reality principle in opposition to the pleasure principle. However, in accordance with external conditions, the mind must also control and regulate the heart's wants. Divan poets, who typically side with the heart, take a stand against the mind, which tries to rule over the heart's wishes at this juncture. They regard it as inadequate and unable to grasp true meaning. By removing the mental barrier and eliminating the nafs, Divan poets frequently highlight their desire to be united simply with the heart. The purpose of this study is to determine the semantic framework of the nafs, mind, and heart, as well as the images associated with them, which provide various clues about the poet's perspective on inner world of human beings and life at the conscious or subconscious levels with the overlapping meaning connection with the id, ego, and superego. The focus of this study is to evaluate and understand numerous expression qualities and notions based on the concepts of nafs, mind, and heart in Fuzuli's Divan (Collected Poems), using Freud's theoretical conceptual framework. The undesirable aspirations of the nafs, as well as the mind's ability to distinguish between good and evil, are highlighted in Fuzûlî's narratives, which are particularly reflections of his spiritual concepts. The poet, however, prioritizes the values of the heart, which is the embodiment of ultimate beauty, in response to the mind that doubts and causes obstacles. It elevates the heart to a higher spiritual status. In this study, the content analysis method was applied to determine the contexts in which the concepts of nafs, mind, and heart were used in Fuzûlî's Divan. Following the grouping of these concepts in the divan by using the tagging method, a broad assessment of the concepts’ meanings has maintained that the poet has assigned to concepts within the context of the poems' themes.

Contribution of University Students' Urban Consciousness and Urban Rights Awareness toUrbanization and Urban Culture; Example of Bayburt

    Alacadağlı, Esmeray

: Urbanization is a process that involves change and organization and has socio-cultural consequences. Themost important of these results is the emergence of a city-specific lifestyle and culture called urbanization. However,in urban settlements that are not based on industrialization or created by political decisions, urbanization can realiseunhealthy or distorted and so urban behaviors and lifestyle cannot occur. Bayburt, which became a province in 1989,is a city that is in the process of urbanization and development. According to the "Provinces and Regions Socio Economic Development Survey", Bayburt, is in the fifth degree group of developed provinces with low agriculturalproductivity and hidden unemployment problem in the agricultural sector. Emigration is a factor that supports thelivelihood of the province. However, there is a positive development in the economic indicators per capita andmigration rates in Bayburt after becoming a province. Per capita national income increased from $ 708 in 1990 to $1019 in 1996. Between 2012 and 2013, Bayburt is now a province receiving immigration with a net immigrationrate of ‰ 1,46. In this positive development, the share of students and academicians who came to the city withBayburt University was opened in 2008, is a phenomenon that has been revealed by researches and is generallyaccepted. The main mission of universities is actually education and research. However, these institutions can makevaluable contributions to the economic, social and cultural development of a city, depending on the size, populationand level of other functions of the cities in which they are located. The purpose of this study is to reveal to whatextent Bayburt University students coming from different cities and carrying the cultural elements of that city hadan impact on the culturalization of their urban behaviors and the urbanization of Bayburt. For this purpose, aliterature review has been made and a questionnaire and interviews were conducted in order to measure theawareness and sensitivity of the students and citizens about urbanization and urban rights and to reveal to whatextent they do these

The expectations of tokat sanjak from the state center at the beginning of the 20TH century: aids and credits

    Aktaş, Esat

The 19th century was a period when changes were experienced and central empires gained importance. Mahmud II one of the Ottoman sultans tried to keep up with this change. The aids provided through foundations until that period were affected by these developments and were taken under the control and supervision of the administration in the person of the sultan. This became one of the means used to impersonate the sultan as the protector of his people and the father. The manifestation of this means, which is also a necessity of the social state, peaked in the period of Abdülhamid II. With the centralization of social welfare, the state aimed to mark every aspect of life in social, cultural and economic terms. Those in need were tried to be supported with unrequited aids under the name of donation, charity and the salary of the needy, and the farmers in difficult situations with the loans provided by Ziraat Bank. With the declaration of the Second Constitutional Monarchy, the social aid form was changed, and the form of viewpoint in the person of the sultan was changed, the aids made on behalf of the sultan were tried to be carried out through state institutions. These supportive policies emerged in a difficult situation in which the public was faced with a disaster or as a result of individual applications. One of the places that asked for help in order to benefit from the social welfare policy was Tokat sanjak, bound to Sivas province. While there were social institutions such as dervish lodges and schools among those who sought aid, there were ulema and sheikhs who gained respect in the society, those who were forgiven for any crime, and on the contrary, exiles, immigrants, and people who wanted their individual education to be supported. On the other hand, there were also loan demands for free or repayment to support those who fell into trouble as a result of disasters. In this study, the applications of the people of Tokat for aid and the answers given to these applications were discussed. How the state officials responded to institutional, individual or regional demands made from Tokat sanjak, to whom and at what rate they helped, and how they provided assistance were evaluated.
