- MakaleAçık Erişim2022Determination of Color and Odor Preferences of Honey Bees (Apis Mellifera L.)\r
Erdoğan, Yaşar; Yavuz, Kani
This study was carried out in the beekeeping research area of Bayburt University in order to\rdetermine the effect of odor and color on plant preference of honeybees in 2021. The experimental\rsetup was established at a distance of 200 meters from the apiary where 80 Caucasian bees (Apis\rmellifera caucasica) colonies are located. As a result of the study, the most preferred feeders were\rthe control group (pure sucrose syrup) (9.81 pieces), and the least preferred feeders were the rose-\rscent group (2.58). The effect of odor on honeybees' feed preferences varied according to months.\rConsidering the effect of months on honeybees' visits to their feeders, the most visited feeders were\rMelissa (6.8) in June, control (11.69) in July, and control (14.58) in August. The highest number of\rfeeder visits by honeybees was in August (9.24), and the lowest (2.89) in June. Considering the\rcolor preferences of honeybees, the most visited forage color was blue (5.98) and the least red was\r4.89. The effect of colors on the feed preferences of honeybees also varied according to the months.\rThe highest visitor bee average was found in the blue colored feeder (4.53) in June, the green\rcolored feeder (7.24) in July, and the yellow and blue colored feeders (7.29) in August.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2020A mini report on palynological and antibacterial tests of four propolis samples from different regional origins
Bayram, Sinan; Kaci, Fatma Necmiye; Ecem Bayram, Nesrin; Gormez, Arzu
In this study, palynological and antibacterial tests of propolis samples from Iran-Turan (IP1 and IP2),Mediterranean (MP), and Europe-Siberia (EP) phytogeographical regions were performed. The pollens ofApiaceae, Asteraceae, Betulaceae, Boraginaceae, Brassicaceae, Campanulaceae, Caryophyllaceae,Fabaceae, Fagacee, Lamiaceae, Poaceae, Pinaceae, Ranunculaceae, Rosaceae, Salicaceae andScrophulariaceae taxa were found in the palynological analysis. Gram negative and Gram positivebacteria were used to determine in vitro antibacterial activities of the propolis samples. The most potentinhibitory effect against the target microorganisms was obtained from IP1. The most resistant strains wereBurkholderia cepacia, Citrobacter freundii and Streptococcus pneumoniae for all the propolis samples. But, the antibacterial activity levels of the samples were different from each other. These results indicatethat propolis can be assessed in different areas such as cosmetic, medicine and food as an antimicrobialagent.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2018Determination of Behavioural Characteristics of Different Honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) Genotypes in Eastern Anatolian Conditions
Cengiz, Mahir Murat; Erdoğan, Yaşar
In this study, it was investigated the stinging, robing and swarming tendencies of Buckfast, Carniolan, Caucasian and Erzurum honeybee genotypes in Eastern Anatolian conditions. In the 2015 production period, a total of 40 colonies,10 from each of Buckfast, Carniolan, Caucasian and Erzurum genotypes were used in the study. Caucasian genotype was the most gentle with 6.22±0.65 pcs/colony average number of stings, while Erzurum genotype was the most aggressive with 12.12±1.08 pcs/colony average number of stings. As a result of analysis of variance applied to average numbers of stings genotypes, the difference between the genotypes was found to be very significant in terms of tendency to stinging. In terms of tendency to robing, the Buckfast genotype ranked first with 1.57±0.17 pcs, while the Carniolan genotype had the lowest trend of robing with a value of 0.62±0.16 pcs. In terms of swarming tendency, the difference between the genotypes was statistically significant.

Örneklerimizde ise I. bacak femurunun dört kıl taşıdığı belirlenmiştir.
