Positive and Negative Ageism Scale (PNAS) A Validity and Reliability Study

MakaleYalnız künye

Özet

The aim of this study is to develop a scale to determine the attitudes of university students towards elderly people. 31 expressions were formed to cover all dimensions of the old discrimination. 400 university students participated in this study. In the analysis of the data, AFA and DFA were used. Cronbach's alpha coefficients were calculated to provide information on the reliability of the scale. With the AFA analysis, the items with the factor load values lower than 0.32 were tried to be scaled and 8 items were subtracted from the scale. For the validity of the scale, DFA was performed and a two-factor scale was obtained. According to the findings obtained from the analysis; RMSEA 0.062, NNFI 0.90 and CFI 0.91. These values showed good agreement between the sub-factors and the scale. According to the general Cronbach Alpha coefficient (0.801), it can be proposed that the scale is quite reliable.
