  PRE-SERVICE SCIENCE AND COMPUTER TEACHERS’ VIEWS ON TEACHING PRACTICE COURSES

  The Teaching Practice course taught in Education Faculties gives pre-service teachers real experience before starting the profession. This study aims to examine the teaching practice courses in the undergraduate programs of education faculties by the views of pre-service science and computer teachers. 50 4th grade students, 25 from the science education department and 25 from the computer and instructional technology education department, participated in the study. Within the scope of the study, the data were collected through online interviews of approximately 30 minutes with the participants, and content analysis was made. According to the findings, pre-service teachers believe that teaching practice courses are insufficient to ensure active participation in lessons in terms of learning gains and content and that they lack a flexible structure that allows them to participate in classes at various grade levels. They also stated that the teaching practice course includes result-oriented measurement and evaluation activities. However, they underlined that the semesters and credits allocated to undergraduate teaching practice courses are insufficient. Furthermore, throughout the process, pre-service teachers reported some communication and coordination issues in the teaching practice course. They suggested that every university with an education faculty should open practice schools that include all levels of compulsory education to overcome the challenges encountered during the process.

  Okul Öncesi Öğrencilerinin Mekân Algısı ve Yön Becerilerine Yönelik Öğretmen Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

  Okul öncesi eğitim, bireylere eğitim ve öğretimle ilgili beceri, değer, uygulama veekinliklerin planlı bir şekilde kazandırılmaya başlandığı ilk dönem olarak ifade edilebilir. Bunedenle önemi her geçen gün farklı platformlarda dile getirilen okul öncesi eğimle ilgiliçalışmalar da giderek artmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi dönemde öğrenimgören öğrencilerin mekân algısı ve yön becerilerine yönelik öğretmen görüşlerininincelenmesidir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan durum deseniyle tasarlanan buaraştırma 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim döneminde hâlihazırda görev yapan toplam 26 okul öncesiöğretmeni ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeformu ile toplanmış ve bu veriler betimsel analizine tabi tutularak değerlendirilmiştir.Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre, mekân algısı ve yön becerilerine yönelik okul öncesiöğretmenleri çeşitli kavram ve beceriler kazandırdıkları, bunları kazandırırken farklı yöntem,teknik, uygulama ve etkinlikler kullandıkları, bazı kavramların öğretilmesinde çeşitlinedenlerden dolayı zorluklar yaşadıkları ve son olarak bunlara ilişkin bazı çözüm önerilerisundukları görülmüştür.

  Pre-School Teachers' Perceptions of Art and Creativity Concepts

  The research aims to determine the views of preschool teachers on the concepts of art and creativity. The research was conducted in a standard case pattern grounded on qualitative research. The study group of the research consists of 40 preschool teachers who voluntarily support the study. In the research, the interview form created to analyze the opinions of preschool teachers about the concepts of art and creativity was employed as the data collection tool. Content analysis and descriptive analysis approaches were employed together in examining the obtained data. According to the data collected from the research findings, it was concluded that preschool teachers mostly preferred the drawing and painting activities for their students, associated with art and creativity in the learning environment. Preschool teachers said that the artistic activities they present in the learning environment chiefly assist children in achieving their abilities in their creativity.

  Measurement of Classroom Management Skills: A Cross Sectional Study on Preschool Teachers

  This research, which aims to examine the classroom management skillsof preschool teachers with cross-sectional screening method, is adescriptive study. Typical case sampling method, one of the purposefulsampling methods, was used in the research. According to this study,110 pre-school teachers, who are working in schools close to the cityaverage level, class sizes, parents' socio-economic status and educationlevels in Erzurum province participated in the study in the spring termof 2018-2019 academic year. In the study “personal information formand classroom management skill level scale” was used as datacollection tool. Descriptive and predictive statistics were used toanalyze the data. As a result, it was found that the classroommanagement skills of preschool teachers did not differ significantlyaccording to the age, position, education level, income level and age ofthe students in the classroom. However, it was determined thatpreschool teachers' classroom management skills differed significantlyaccording to their marital status, professional seniority and the numberof students in the classroom.

  The Effect of Embodying Proverbs and Idioms with Multimedia Materials on Preschool Education

  This research aims to determine how teachers' use of multimedia materials in teaching proverbs and idioms in preschool education will affect the learning levels of children about proverbs and idioms. This research was an applied descriptive study. The focus group interview method, one of the qualitative data collection methods, was used in the study. This research was carried out in Erzurum city center with the participation of 10 children, who are in the 60-69 month age range, who attend preschool education institutions in the first half of the 2019-2020 academic year. Within the scope of the study, the data were collected through focus group discussion. In the focus group meeting, an event was made by showing the multimedia videos about the proverbs and idioms to the children. During the interview, a structured interview form with questions consisting of eight proverbs and eight idioms was used as the data collection tool. What they understood from these proverbs and idioms were measured by the questions asked to the children before and after the activity. The data of proverbs and idioms included in the research were examined in separate titles. The content analysis method was used to analyze the data. As a result, it has been determined that teaching proverbs and idioms to children by using multimedia materials in the preschool education period helps them to understand the proverbs and idioms better and facilitates their learning.

  Okul Öncesi Öğretmen Adaylarının Kitap Okuma Alışkanlıklarının Eleştirel DüşünmeBecerileri Üzerindeki Etkisi

  Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının kitap okuma alışkanlıklarının eleştirel düşünme becerileri üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırmaya dayalı ilişkisel tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmayla ilgili olarak Bayburt Üniversitesi Etik Kurul’undan 12.03.2020 tarihli ve 79126184-050.99/E. 6399 sayılı yazıya istinaden etik kurul izin onayı alınmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan ölçekler, elektronik ortama aktarılarak örneklemde yer alan üniversitelerin okul öncesi öğretmenliği bölümünde lisans eğitimi alan ve araştırmaya gönüllü olarak katılmak isteyen öğretmen adaylarına sunulmuş (googledriver)https://forms.gle/xtLBaqJZJDA44YAr8linki üzerinden bu formları doldurmaları istenmiştir. Bu araştırmanın örneklemini araştırmaya gönüllü olarak destek vermek isteyen; Türkiyenin çeşitli üniversitelerinde okul öncesi öğretmenliği alanında lisans eğitimini sürdüren 357 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak “Kitap Okuma Alışkanlığına Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” ve “Eleştirel Düşünme Becerisi Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizi için SPSS 22.00 programı kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda araştırma verilerinin normal dağılım gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlardan yola çıkarak okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının “Kitap Okumayı Artturmaya Yönelik Tutum Ölçeğinin” alt boyutlarındanaldıkları puanlarla “Eletirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeğinden” aldıkları puanlar hesaplanmıştır. Daha sonra bu ölçekler arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkarmak için pearson momentler çarpımı korelasyon analizine ve bu ölçeklerin birbirini yordamasına ilişkin lineer regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Yapılan bu analiz sonucunda, kitap okuma alışkanlığına yönelik tutumlar ile eleştirel düşünme becerisi arasında doğru yönde anlamlı ilişkilerin olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

  Okul Öncesi Öğretmenlerinin Derslerinde Kullandıkları Öğretim Yöntem Ve Tekniklere İlişkin Görüşleri

  Bu araştırma okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin öğrenme ve öğretme sürecinde eğitsel etkinlikleri uygularkenkullandıkları öğretim yöntem ve teknikler ile bu uygulamaları yerine getirirken karşılaştıkları problemlereilişkin görüşlerini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın evrenini Erzurum ili merkez ilçelerinde görevyapan okul öncesi öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Ayrıca bu araştırmada amaçlı örneklem yöntemlerinden tipikdurum örneklemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Evren çok geniş olduğundan evrenden tipik durum örneklemesiyöntemi ile 2018/2019 eğitim öğretim yılında görev yapan ve araştırmaya gönüllü olarak destek vermek isteyen45 okul öncesi öğretmeni örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Araştırma süreci nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durumçalışması deseninde tasarlanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yöntemikullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin öğrenme sürecinde etkinlikleriuygularken en çok kullandıkları öğretim yöntem ve tekniğinin gösterip yaptırmak olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.Öte yandan okul öncesi öğretmenleri etkinliklerde kullandıkları öğretim yöntem ve tekniğini seçerken en çokçocukların hazır bulunuşluk seviyelerine dikkat ettiklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğrenme sürecindekullandıkları öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerinin kendileri açısından öğrenmeyi kolaylaştırdığını ifade etmişlerdir.Bununla birlikte okul öncesi öğretmenleri öğrenme sürecinde etkinlikleri uygularken kullandıkları öğretimyöntem ve teknikleri seçerken kendilerini en çok sınıfların kalabalık olmasının ve buna bağlı olarak çocuklardameydana gelen dikkat dağınıklıklarının etkilediğini ifade etmişlerdir. Bu nedenlerden dolayı bazı etkinlikleriuygulamada zaman sıkıntısı yaşadıklarını belirtmişlerdir.

  Investigation of Pre-School Education Stakeholders' Attitudes towards Children's Rights

  The purpose of this research; To determine the attitudes of pre-school teacher candidates, preschool teachers and parents who are currently enrolled in pre-school education towards children's rights and to reveal the difference between their attitudes towards children's rights, if any. This study was designed as a survey model based on quantitative research. The research data were collected in the spring term of the 2019-2020 school year when education was given face to face. The sample group of this study consisted of 71 preschool teachers, working in the central districts of the province of Erzurum, 97 preschool teacher candidates receiving undergraduate education in the departments of preschool teaching at Bayburt University and Tokat Gazi Osmanpasa University. In addition, 245 parents, whose children were enrolled in pre-school education institutions in the provinces of Erzurum, Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Adana, Malatya and Erzincan were also included in the sample group. In this study, “Demographic Information Collection Form” developed by the researcher and “Attitude Scale for Children’s Rights” developed by Karaman Kepenekci (2006) were used as data collection tools. It was found out according to the results of this research there was a significant difference among the mean scores received by preschool teacher candidates, preschool teachers and parents from the attitude scale for children’s rights (CHTO).

  Teacher opinions about children's awareness of zero-waste and recycling in the pre-school education years

  The aim of this study is to encourage the development of pre-school teachers by raising their awareness about zero-waste and recycling activities. The need for this research is linked to the lack of prominence about the concept of zero-waste in pre-school programs in Turkey, and also the limited inclusion of opportunities for pre-school students to learn about recycling strategies. This research uses a qualitative design and adopts a case-study approach. The study group was purposefully sampled using criterion-sampling. Interviews were conducted with forty pre-school education teachers who volunteered to support the research, had at least five years experience, and had received training about zero-waste and recycling activities. The interviews with pre-school education teachers were conducted once and took approximately fifty minutes. Content analysis and descriptive analysis approaches were employed. The research findings were based on each interview question, and tables were created under five headings. Research findings indicate that most of the pre-school education teachers stated the children's awareness about zero-waste and recycling was insufficient during the pre-school education years. Teachers have stated that awareness about zero-waste and recycling can be enriched through the inclusion of specific content and the use of visual materials in pre-school education programs. Additionally, pre-school education teachers emphasized that using an educational game will make the learning process about zero-waste and recycling strategies more enjoyable and will also be the most suitable method in terms of the children's age and levels of development. On the other hand, teachers have stated that in order to raise children's awareness about zero-waste and recycling, there should be further studies conducted about how such awareness will contribute to the social and emotional development of children as well as studies about how children can learn-by-doing.

  The Active Learning Model Of Class 7 Students And Their Impacts On Critical Thinking Tendencies Teacher Opinions

  The purpose of the study is to determine the effects of active learning model applied in the 7th grade Turkish Language course on students' critical thinking tendencies. The study group of the research consists of 59 students who were in the seventh grade during the academic year of 2016-2017 in Erzurum Province. Of these students, 29 students constituted the experimental group and 30 students constituted the control group. Experimental method was used in the study. In the quantitative part of the study, experimental design with pre-test post-test control group, which is one of the experimental research models. The California Mental Motivation Scale, developed to measure the students' critical thinking tendencies by Giancarlo, Blohm and Urdan (2004) adapted to Turkish by Özdemir (2006) was applied as pre-test and post- test in the experimental and control groups.
