Examining the Relationship between Foot Medial Arch Height and Short and Medium Distance Running Performances and Some Variables in Athletes

Temur, H. Bayram; Esen, Hüseyin; Inci, O. Bilge; Karadag, Hüseyin

In this study, the relationship between foot medial arch height, age, height, body weight, body mass index (BMI), calf and thigh thickness and 100-meter and 3000-meter running performances in athletes was investigated. 28 athletes competing in national competitions, with an average age of 18.29±5.68 years, were included in the study on a voluntary basis. The right foot medial arch heights, heights, body weights, calf and thigh thicknesses of the participants were determined. BMI's were calculated. Also, 100 m and 3000 m. running times were determined. Data analyzes were performed using descriptive statistics and correlation tests. As a result of the analysis, 100 m running performance had a negative relationship with the values of height (r= -.377), body weight (r= -.466), BMI (r= -.428) and thigh circumference (r= -.433). It was observed that there was a relationship with the calf circumference measurement value (-.496) at the p<0.01 level. On the other hand, it was determined that the relationship between foot medial arch height (r= -.178) was not significant (p>0.05). On the other hand, 3000 m running performance was negatively affected by height (r= -.493), body weight (r= -.641), BMI (r= -.625) and calf girth thickness (r= -.623). It was determined that it showed significance at the p<0.01 level. It was also determined that there was a significant relationship with medial arch height in a negative direction (r = -.404) and at p < 0.05. As a result, it can be said that foot medial arch height, height, body weight, BMI, thigh and calf circumference thickness values are effective on short and medium distance running performances.

Investigation of the Effects of 8-Week Zumba and Step-Aerobic Exercises on Serum Leptin and Serum Ghrelin Hormone in Women

    Temur, H. Bayram; Öge, Beyza

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between 8-week-old zumba and step-aerobic exercises with serum leptin and serum ghrelin. Semi-experimental method used in qualitative and quantitative research was used in the study. The experimental group consisted of 26 women who voluntarily participated in the study, with an average age of 41.40 +/- 9.90 years, who did not smoke or drink alcohol, do not exercise regularly, and lead a sedentary life. The experiment group was performed zumba and step-aerobic exercises with various choreographies for 3 weeks, 2 hours each, for 8 weeks. Blood samples were taken to determine the levels of hormone levels of the serum leptin and serum ghrelin three times before the exercise program, the 4th week of the exercise program and the end of the exercise program. Blood samples were taken in the morning hours after 8-10 hours of fasting. The data obtained as a result of the measurements were transferred to the computer environment. SPSS 20 package program was used in the analysis of these data. As a result of the analysis on the normal distribution of data, it was revealed that it showed a normal distribution. In the analysis of these data, Single Factor Variance Analysis (ANOVA) was used. Significance levels were evaluated according to p <0.05. As a result of the statistical analysis of the findings obtained in the research; The participants in the study were found to be statistically insignificant (p> 0.05) although there was a decrease in leptin and ghrelin levels. As a result, regular zumba and stepa-erobic exercises were found to cause a decrease in serum leptin and ghrelin levels in sedentary women, although not statistically significant.

Comparison of Environmental Measurement Values in Extremities with Some Strength Parameters after Weight Training

    Bayrain Temur, H.; Kilinçboz, Hilal

It was aimed to investigate whether the increase in arm and leg circumference measurement values of weight training applied in a training has an effect on strength. Twenty-two boxers with a mean age of 20.09 +/- 1.41 years were included in the study. Measurements were taken twice, after the warm-up, before starting and after training. Right and left upper arm and forearm circumference, right and left femur and calf circumference values were determined. In addition, right and left-hand grip strength, leg strength and back strength values were determined. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that there was no significant difference (p<0.05) between right and left-hand grip strength pre-test and post-test values. It was determined that there was a difference between the leg strength pre-test and post-test values and between the pre-test and post-test values of all other parameters in favour of the post-test. However, the right arm and forearm circumference measurement values were calculated with the right-hand grip strength, respectively. Left-arm and forearm circumference measurement values were calculated with the left-hand drag force, respectively. Shoulder circumference measurement values with both right hand and left-hand drag force, respectively and correlation was detected.

The Relationship Between Exercise and Body Composition and Liver Enzymes

    Temur, H. Bayram; Ceylan, Ramazan

Zumba exercise program applied for twelve weeks to know its effects on Body Mass Index (BMI), Body weight, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Triglyceride (TG) and Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST). A total of 15 women, whose average age was 40.33 +/- 9.15 years, were trained for one and a half hours for 3 days a week for 12 weeks. The blood samples were taken on an empty stomach four times before the training of Zumba and at the end of each week. Blood samples were taken 24 hours after exercise at the end of every four weeks. These blood samples were studied in a healthcare facility laboratory. The lengths and body weights of the participants were also determined. We found that there was a decrease in body weight and BMI measurement values and AST measurement values. However, no significant change in serum HDL, LDL and triglyceride values was evidenced.
