Evaluation of Classroom Teaching Undergraduate Program Course Contents in terms of Mother Tongue Education

In this study, the courses in the classroom teaching undergraduate program; content, credits, periods in which it was taught, language skills and its compatibility with the achievements in the Turkish Lesson Curriculum. Primary education is the first step in which an individual receives his mother tongue education formally. For this reason, the course contents of the classroom teaching undergraduate program should be at a sufficient level in terms of mother tongue education. Based on the fact that the primary purpose of the mother tongue education and teaching process is to provide the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, the place of the courses related to these four basic language skills in the classroom teaching undergraduate program has been examined by document analysis method. In the results obtained in the study, it was seen that the classroom teaching undergraduate program did not have the necessary course content for mother tongue education. In addition, it was determined that the credits of the courses containing the four basic language skills were not sufficient. In order to eliminate the problem, it is recommended to update the classroom teaching undergraduate program according to the language education and teaching criteria. In addition, it should be ensured that the courses that include applications that will develop the four basic skills of the language with a constructive approach are included in the program.
