Ari, Yilmaz Onur
Labor migration from underdeveloped and developing countries to developed countries has gained great importance, especially with the acceleration of globalization since the 1980s. The remittances that migrants earn by working in the receiving countries and send to their families have become an important tool for fighting against poverty and supporting economic growth.Migrant remittances, which are more stable than other financial sources, became a primary source of foreign exchange for supporting economic growth of developing countries by financing the current account deficit, reducing poverty, increasing consumption expenditures, and increasing household savings and investments. Remittances, which are an important financial source for developing countries, affect the economic growth in the remittance-receiving country positively or negatively. There is no consensus in the literature about the effect of remittances on economic growth.Remittances take an important place for lowering poverty and supporting economic growth because Turkey is a developing country. In this study, I analyzed a historical background of remittance flows to Turkey. By looking back at the literature, I tried to correlate Turkish remittances to Turkish financial sector development.

Sayar, Ramazan
During the global financial crisis in 2008, the world trade experienced a large and severe collapse. Between 2008 and 2009, world exports and exports in Turkey decreased by 16% and 22%, respectively. The recent research has shown that the slowdown in global demand and tight financing conditions are the main factors behind this drop in exports. Auboin (2009) has stated that the 10%-15% decline in international trade after the global financial crisis may be due to the decline in commercial finance. In addition, the decline in commercial finance is particularly important for developing countries that have many sectors dependent on external financing. This study examines the reasons of the decline in exports in the world especially in Turkey during global financial crisis and assesses whether the financing constraints have contributed to this collapse. This study considered as a literature review consists of theoretical framework of the relationship between export and export financing. In order to show whether there is an effect of financing in international trade, firstly, research on the financial models is included in the classical models of international trade that show the dependence of international trading companies to financing. Secondly it has been utilized studies that analyzing of empirical evaluations of the effects of the external trade firms' dependence on external financing.

Yildiz, Ümit; Günsoy, Bülent
Especially in the last century, globalization and deregulation have shown intensively in every field with technological advances. These developments have affected the financial markets as well as in all other areas of the economic system, and restrictions and obstacles between countries have started to lose their effect rapidly. At this point, however, a crucial need arose for market participants: accurate information. For market participants who want to know about the risk they take when making an investment decision, accessing the accurate information is costly; and this negatively affects market discipline. At this point, credit rating is the most important tool to ensure market discipline. Credit rating is briefly defined as an independent assessment on whether an obligator can fulfill its financial obligations on time. This assestment is carried out by credit rating agencies within the framework of a certain method. Although there are many local and national rating agencies around the world, there are big three credit rating agencies (CRAs) which hold almost the entire market: Standard and Poor's (S and P), Fitch, and Moody's.Credit rating can be classified into many different subcategories. The rating can be classified as long- or short-term ratings according to their maturities, and local currency and foreign currency ratings according to their types. After risk assessment in the light of some economic and political factors for a country, the alpha numerical indicators determined in terms of long-term foreign currency are called Sovereign Credit Rating. Sovereign Credit Ratings are determined and announced by the CRAs. CRAs determine sovereign credit ratings on a scale that consists of many levels ranging from 'prime' level to 'default' level. This scale also shows the rating grades of the agencies. The scale used by CRAs is classified into three different levels: investment grade, non-investment grade, and default grade.
- Kitap BölümüYalnız künye2019The relationship between political stability, fixed capital, employment, and economic growth: An analysis on MENA countries
Boz, Fusun Celebi
As the growth theories before 1980 fell short in explaining the developmental differences in countries and could not provide a solution to the problems of underdeveloped countries, a necessity for new growth models emerged. In connection to the exogenous nature of technology, the perception that all countries can achieve economic growth depending on capital stock and employment volume was in time replaced by the effectiveness of institutional and social factors in this process, and it was seen that other factors rather than economic factors would be influential in terms of achieving economic growth. In the scope of institutional factors, the political regimes of countries were aimed to be analyzed, and accordingly, strong institutional structures were associated with democracy. Thus, it may be stated that, while democratic regimes are dominant in developed societies, antidemocratic regimes are encountered in developing societies. In this context, the type of the political regime is considered to be the main variable for economic growth. As the type of the political regime was inadequate in completely explaining economic growth, the concept of political stability started to be considered in the literature (Telatar, 2003:74-75). The concept of political stability is important in terms of determination of economic policies in a country for the long-term rather than the short-term and for rational decisions by managers in the private sector. Moreover, political instability may lead to property issues by bringing about weaknesses in the legal system. This situation may affect.

Foreign direct investment, as an important instrument of economic development for developing countries, provides employment, technology transfer and productivity improvement by eliminating the capital deficiency in these countries. In recent years, foreign direct investments have increased considerably in developing countries. This increase makes it necessary to investigate the determinants of foreign direct investment. This paper focuses particularly on globalization and institutional quality variables that determine foreign direct investment using panel data of 48 developing countries from 1996 to 2015. The results suggest that globalization and institutional quality have a positive effect on foreign direct investment.
