    Authority: Divine Or Qur'anic?

    Şentürk, Mustafa; Elelvânî, Tâhâ C

The Author who examines divine authority in his article, differentiated between the authority in the Qur'an to the authority asserted by contemporary Islamic movements. According to him, contemporary Islamists have been colored by attempts to counter Western concepts of authority, government and legitimacy by taking the concept of Qur'anic authority out of context and without considering the Qur'an's structural integrity, universality and final significance. According to the author, the authority of the Qur'an is like human authority, because it functions through a human reading and application.
