Özet

Abd al-Ghanī al-Nāblusī was born on March 17, 1641 in Damascus. Our author, a very influential person in his time, educated approximately two hundred students. Nablusî, appointed as the judge of Meydan in 1665, served as a judge for only one year, then resigned and continued as a teacher. Nablusî wrote works in many fields such as fiqh, mysticism, kalam, tafsir, hadith, history, travelogue, Arabic language and literature, dream interpretation, ilm al-jifr, tajwid. In our opinion, he wrote some of these works on the issues discussed between two different schools, which were famous during his lifetime, namely Kadızādelīs and Sivāsīs, and thus revealed his views on the debates. Based on the copyright reasons and dates of these works, some expressions used by the author in his works, and some studies, we can say that Nāblusī’s target audience is the people of Kadızāde. He gave a striking title as “as-Sulh bayna’l-ihwān fi hukm ibāhati't-duhān”, meaning "peace between brothers regarding the rule of tobacco". Nablusî likely aimed to find peace between the Kadızādelī and Sivāsī who were arguing violently about the rule of tobacco by saying “as-sulh bayna’l-ihwān", that is, peace between brothers.
