First Data on the Spider Fauna of Bayburt, with a New Record and Additional Notes (Arachnida: Araneae)

    Aksan, Nurcan Demircan; Batur, Zikra

This study, which is the first araneo-fauna survey in Bayburt province, was carried out around the Bâbertî Campus of Bayburt University between June and September 2023. A total of 38 species belonging to 14 families were identified in the study. These species constitute the first locality records of Bayburt province. Of these species, Titanoeca tristis L. Koch, 1872 is determined as a new record for Türkiye. Also, the presence of Pardosa aquila Buchar & Thaler, 1998 is confirmed by the present study. Detailed descriptions, photographs and world distribution data of both species are presented. In addition, the copulatory organs of Pardosa aquila Buchar & Thaler, 1998 are compared with those of its closest relative, Pardosa italica Tongiorgi, 1966, found in the same region. All species identified in the study area are listed with their world distributions and references in Türkiye. Keywords: Araneae, Titanoeca tristis, biodiversity, Bayburt.

Simulation Study on The Sorting of Chiral Active Brownian Colloids By Optical Barriers

    Yücel, Harun

This study considers the dynamics of chiral active Brownian particles (CABPs) through numerical simulations conducted under the influence of an optical field. Unlike passive Brownian particles, CABPs possess a propulsion mechanism and a chiral torque that induce curved trajectories, complex motion, and out-of-equilibrium behavior. These properties make CABPs interesting for both theoretical research and potential applications in the control of active matter. In simulations, CABPs are modeled as spherical particles with a refractive index suspended in a fluid medium (water). When illuminated by an optical field, these particles experience optical forces due to the momentum transfer from the light field, which affects their motion. This interaction provides a powerful method for guiding, confining, or sorting them based on their motile characteristics. As a result, the study demonstrates that optical fields can serve as both static and dynamic barriers, significantly influencing the trajectories of particles. The findings present that optical landscapes can separate and orient CABPs based on their propulsion speed and chirality. The study emphasizes the potential of optical manipulation as a tunable technique for chiral active particles in complex environments.

MW Assisted Synthesis of New 4,6-diaryl-3,4-Didhydropyrimidines-2(1H)-thione Derivatives: Tyrosinase Inhibition, Antioxidant, and Molecular Docking Studies

Yucel, Tayyibe Beyza; Fandaklı, Seda; Yayli, Nurettin; Barut, Burak; Uzuner, Ugur; Öztürk, Elif; Ates, Fatih

A number of new methoxy-substituted 4,6-diaryl-3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-thiones (DH-Pyr-S, 17-28) were designed and synthesized by the reaction of methoxy-substituted chalcones (1–14) with thiourea using solid-phase microwave method (MW) in view of the structural requirements as suggested in the pharmacophore model for tyrosinase inhibition (TI). Synthesized compounds were assessed for their in vitro TI potential and compounds 16, 17, and 21 exhibited notable tyrosinase inhibitory properties at the concentrations of 31.86 ± 2.45 µM, 44.58 ± 0.46 µM, and 48.47 ± 0.66 µM, respectively. Compounds (16, 17, and 21) were exhibited experimentally more potent TI than the standard used in terms of the IC50 value (Kojic acid, 55.38 ± 2.30 µM; p<0.0001). Additionally, DPPH activity of 15-28 were evaluated and compound 17 showed the moderate DPPH activity (45.64 ± 0.34%). Binding affinities of synthesized molecules to the tyrosinase catalytic core were further investigated through in silico molecular docking studies using AutoDock Vina (version 1.2.5), discovery studio accelyrs (BIOVIA, Dassault Systèmes) and predicting small-molecule pharmacokinetic properties using graph-based signatures (pkCSM) programs were used for ADMET calculations. Among synthesized compounds 15, 21, and 24 revealed high binding affinity to tyrosinase active site with lowest binding free energy (ΔG) values of -7.9 kcal/mol, thereby outperformed kojic acid affinity. In conclusion most modeling results were in agreement with their experimental data, suggesting the TI potential of lead compounds.

Generalization of Some Integral Inequalities for Arithmetic Harmonically Convex Functions

    Kadakal, Huriye

In this study, by using an integral identity, Hölder integral inequality and modulus properties we obtain some new general inequalities of the Hermite-Hadamard and Bullen type for functions whose derivatives in absolute value at certain power are arithmetically harmonically (AH) convex. In the last part of the article, applications including arithmetic mean, geometric mean, harmonic mean, logarithmic mean and p-logarithmic mean, which are some special means of real numbers, are given by using arithmetic harmonically convex functions.
