Özet

Munawi, one of the important scholars of the Ottoman Empire, lived in Kahire in the 16-17th century (1545-1622). This scholar, who started to demand knowledge from a young age, wrote important works in various fields such as hadith, fiqh, tafsir and mysticism. The most prominent point of Munawi is commentary. He became famous with “Fayd al-Qadir”, his commentary on al- Suyuti's al-Jami al-Saghir. In his relevant commentary, Munawi displayed a holistic view to understand the hadiths correctly and explained them from various angles. The author, who made use of many sources while explaining the hadiths, also benefited from some copies in his commentary. The references made by Munawi to the copies are important. Because, the references to some copies that are not yet known to have reached the present day shows that the commentator had this copies. In other words, it is understood that the copies in question were accessible in the 17th century. In this study, the efforts to reach the original copy will be discussed based on the copies used by Munawi in his commentary on Fayd al-Qadir and the references he made to the original source.
